Friday March 25, 2011 and Friday April 22, 2011 at 11am

During the March and April school vacations, the Newport Historical Society will offer first-person guided tours of their house museum, the c.1697 Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House. Unlike traditional site tours, guests can step back in time to the spring of 1781 when a historic interpreter portraying colonial resident Polly Wanton Lyman will lead a tour of the house.

Polly will take guests through the house’s parlor, keeping room, kitchen and bed chambers while telling stories of the house’s great history and discussing life in Revolutionary War-torn Newport. Guests will have the opportunity to talk to Polly and ask questions about her daily life.

The tour costs $10 per person, $8 for Newport Historical Society members, and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Reservations required as space is very limited. Tour departs from the Museum & Shop at Brick Market, 127 Thames Street, Newport, RI. To make a reservation please call: 401-841-8770.
