The Colony House: An Extraordinary Venue for Your Historic Event
Experience the grand architecture and living history of Newport’s Colony House. Built in 1739, this building quickly became the cultural and political center of colonial Rhode Island.
It has been the scene of many dramatic events, including landmark trials, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, the state’s Election Day festivities, and a reception hosted by the French General Rochambeau for the visiting George Washington.
Now, because of a very special arrangement with the State of Rhode Island, you can host your event at the Colony House through the Newport Historical Society.
