Please note: Because of the extreme historical importance of the Colony House particular care must be taken in choosing to host an event here. While the Newport Historical Society encourages access to this historic structure, its first responsibility is to the building itself, and to the collections housed within. Careful, appropriate use of this unique site ensures the continued preservation of the building and its contents. Adherence to written guidelines will allow for appropriate use of this unique site while ensuring that the building and its contents are not compromised. Event hosts, caterers and decorators must preview the facility with an NHS representative at least two weeks in advance of the event.

The Colony House has no kitchen facilities and no cooking devices of any can be used inside. This includes any type of hot coffee makers or pots, sterno pots and food warmers. All food must be prepared off-site and brought in ready to serve. Alcohol may not sold.

Proceeds from event rental support educational programs and historic site preservation efforts of the Newport Historical Society, a non-profit organization. Non-profit rate reductions are available upon request for a limited number of events each year (3 in-season, 3 off-season).
